What is MOIC?

Understanding the OIC

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the second-largest intergovernmental organization in the world, representing 57 member states across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Established in 1969, the OIC works to promote solidarity, cooperation, and development among Muslim-majority countries, covering areas such as political coordination, economic growth, education, science, culture, and humanitarian efforts.

Through its activities, the OIC provides a platform for member states to address common challenges, collaborate on global issues, and support each other’s development.

What is MOIC?

The Model Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (MOIC) is an educational simulation of the OIC, similar to a Model United Nations (MUN), but focused exclusively on issues facing Islamic countries. Participants step into the roles of diplomats and representatives of OIC member states, experiencing firsthand how international diplomacy, negotiations, and decision-making work.

Students debate real-world topics, draft resolutions, and collaborate to propose actionable solutions to challenges in economics, social development, and international relations. Like MUN, MOIC emphasizes public speaking, critical thinking, negotiation, and leadership skills, but with a unique focus on the OIC framework and Islamic countries’ cooperation.

MOIC History and Ankara Program

The MOIC program was first organized by the OIC in Istanbul, bringing together students from member states to simulate the organization’s real-world procedures. Today, the MOIC simulation in Ankara is organized through the HIMOIC program by the students of Uluslararası Prof. Dr. Muhammed Hamidullah Anadolu İmam Hatip Lisesi (AIHL).

It is supported by:

Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), providing mentorship and guidance

Directorate of Religious Education (Din Öğretimi Müdürlüğü), offering institutional backing

This program allows students to practice diplomacy in a realistic international setting, developing skills in negotiation, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership, while gaining a deeper understanding of issues affecting the Islamic world.

Why MOIC Matters

MOIC is more than a simulation—it is a hands-on learning experience. Participants learn how decisions are made at the international level, engage with peers from diverse backgrounds, and develop the skills and confidence to become future leaders in their communities, countries, and beyond.
